When Ryan Thogmartin speaks, it’s best to listen. Why? Because this guy knows what he’s talking about, especially when it comes to deathcare and social media. Sort of like E.F. Hutton and investment banking … in the 80s. (Sorry you missed out on that gem, millennials!)
Unlike that reference, Ryan’s latest advice is actually relevant and super timely. Like, stuff you should be doing right now. Today. In fact, that’s the title of Ryan’s latest video . . . which you can catch below.
Outside, as in out in the sunshine, the light of day, and not within four walls. Yes, it’s a little warm, but it’s also beautiful — birds are singing, a breeze is (hopefully) blowing, and the shrubs and flowers in your lovingly landscaped beds are thriving.
Why not take advantage of that beauty to shoot a quick video of your funeral home’s exterior? Talk about you, your team, your grounds … whatever makes you, you. Anytime it’s just you and the camera, you’re adding to that story about who you are, what you do, and how you do it better!
Creating content about an employee is a gift that keeps on giving (like Kodak … anyone remember that 1970s tagline?). Honestly, though, highlighting an employee in a social media video not only shows that person that you think they’re special and that you appreciate all they do as a member of your team.
That message — that you care about the folks on your team — also comes through to your audience. Additionally, if it’s someone they recognize from the community — a greeter, director, assistant, etc. — your public will appreciate seeing a friendly face and remember that they work with YOU.
When Facebook ads are done well, they’re incredibly effective in reaching your target audience and reminding them that you’re here, and you’re different, and you’re special — and they should remember you when they’re ready to plan their homegoing.
In fact, brand awareness ads are particularly powerful as part of a larger preneed marketing strategy, helping you stack the deck for a later campaign!
Not sure how to get started with a preneed strategy? Don’t worry.
We know a guy!
